SXSW Successes boost Visibility

of New Artists

April 1, 2008 - With three highly successful showcases during 2008 South by Southwest music festival, audiences were afforded a number of unique opportunities to see some of Austin's best and brightest.  Thanks to Central Market and the wonderful Ginger Man Pub,

Genuine Recordings showcased 22 bands in a two day period - all events were packed.  Unfortunate Heads and David Hamburger, new comers to Genuine, were brilliant and garnered rave reviews (Pop Culture Press).

Three bands joined the fold from Ireland and England.  The Toy Hearts (England), Hazard Hollow (Ireland) and the incredibly soulful Ironweed Project (England) added an incredible wealth of creativity and talent to the events.

Genuine Taps Burnside for National Distribution

We're making sure that the artist gets to see the financial benefit from their songs. That’s why we formed Genuine Recordings – your authority for Americana music created by Austin’s premiere groups.   We took a look at the math that the record companies use to calculate who gets what ... it doesn't work anymore. Their old approach that gave the big labels some sort of justification for keeping the artist as indentured servants was created over 50 years ago, and has changed very little since. These big companies have been falling by the wayside over the last few years because they are not needed anymore. Artists can now ACTUALLY benefit from their labor of love.
